"Very exploring and innovative band. Their music holds its own weight with some impressive guitar work and powerfully triumphant progressive ways that could gain interest from the Queensryche and Fates Warning fanatics out there. Killer vocals by singer Jon Dobbs makes this album great when it has to be."
The band, born from the ashes of Paradoxx, is formed in Chicago in 1988 by Dean Maltese (drums), Randy Jostes (bass), Jon Dobbs (vocals, guitar) and Michael Posch (guitar). A self-titled demo is released in 1989, followed by "Vicious Raditude" in 1990 and "Masquerade" in 1991, gaining good feedbacks in the underground circuit, so much the band open shows for Queensrÿche, Megadeth and Kansas. Then they sign with prestigious Century Media, which releases their debut album "Malice and Tranquility" (1996), followed by "Requiem for the Innocent" (1998).
They are also included in the Judas Priest tribute album, always released by Century Media, with the song "Night Crawler." Unfortunately, due to low sales, the label left them and they disbanded soon after. And it's a real shame because the band, especially on their first album, plays an heavy, classic and mature metal with a progressive touch, influenced by Queensrÿche, Crimson Glory, Sanctuary, Fates Warning, Fifth Angel, Savatage and enhanced by Jon Dobbs's powerful, crystalline voice. On their second album the band adds gothic elements, orchestration and multi-part choirs, more focusing on the progressive side. Rock Hard magazine (Germany) ranked 8,5/10 "Malice and Tranquility" and 8/10 "Requiem for the Innocent". Available on vinyl for the first time.
